Minion, TV Star
Minion, like Mary Niven, was in the 1986 TV Programme "Under Sail - Just what the Doctor Ordered" produced by Brian Hawkins and shown on BBC Television.
A DVD of this programme was shown at the 2014 AGM.
In June 2000, Denis Murrin wrote; “We have cruised Minion twice to Holland, numerous times to the Cherbourge peninsular, the Channel Islands, and to the north and west coasts of Brittany. Our two sons were brought up on the boat, starting at three and nine months."
Denis was Chairman of the HBA 1990 - 1994. One of his sons, David, still owns Minion, which is laid up at the Suffolk Yacht Harbour on the River Orwell awaiting restoration. David is better known for his passion for the 47 foot, Laurent Giles designed yacht Cetewayo which he bought at the age of 24, before he had a house. His rescuing of Cetewayo from debt, legal entanglement, and neglect is an epic tale, well worth reading. (See links section, below)
