Maymaid : FaceBook Pop-Up
One of the joys of following The Hillyard Group on Facebook is when a boat, unheard of for years, such as Maymaid, suddenly pops up. I've looked up her statistics and owner history to add a little to what is known about this capable looking boat. Update (March 2018) : She's been put up for sale for £15,000.
Of her previous owners, SO Gillett, her first, is particularly interesting. It would seem that he first owned the Harrison Butler designed Z4, Leueen, later renamed Bismillah (and not heard of since 1993). After one year of ownership, he tried out owning a Hillyard, the 6 tonner Quadrille. This seemed to suit him for he commissioned the new build Hillyard, White Duck, in 1961, and then this boat, as another new build Hillyard, in 1967.
