Seven Seas

Seven Seas Added to the Association Archives, 2015
I first came across Seven Seas on YouTube a couple of years ago. She was being restored in Maylands Boat Yard, Perth, Western Australia, by Paul Kilpin.
By email, Paul told me that “Seven Seas was built in Scotland and sailed to Australia by a brain surgeon. She was altered in the 1970's with a longer taller coach house added.”

Advert for Seven Seas

A June 2016 search of the internet threw up an advert for Seven Seas that was placed in The West Australian newspaper on Saturday the 17th of January 1953. If she had indeed been sailed from Scotland between 1947 and 1953 (Note that the advert describes her as an “OCEAN CRUISER”) then there must be a quite spectacular story of the voyage to be uncovered. Who was this brain surgeon? Was an account of his voyage written?
I believe that Seven Seas, now restored, has left Maylands Amateur Boat yard. In researching the history of the yard, I came across an old photograph of Seven Seas looking very shabby in the yard in 2004.
