A Fully Restored 'Yonne Design' Bermudian Cutter
Mischief III spent most of her early sailing life on the South Coast with a succession of Civil Servant owners. She was laid-up in the late 1970's for a winter re-fit. However the death of her owner resulted in twenty-eight years in a Devon garden. The Aldworths acquired Mischief III in 2007 and began a thorough keel-up restoration that took five years to complete, the stunning result being featured in Classic Boat magazine, September 2011. In 2012 Mischief III was put forward for the Classic Boat restoration award and won her class. She was voted one of the top 100 Classics of 2013.
Mischief III was sold in October 2014 to Paul and Jane Barnes, the couple soon becoming fully involved with the HBA, Paul as a dazzlingly efficient Treasurer and, more recently, Membership secretary supporting Robert Griffiths.
After Ten Years
Ten years later, Paul and Jane have decided to sell Mischief III. The broker writes that the couple, “have not spared any expense in preserving her immaculate condition” and note that “a flawless survey” was made, March 2024.
Past Owners
Looking through my Lloyd's Registers, I didn't find Mischief III until 1952 when Kenneth Barker took her on to race her. Any information on her early history is welcome.
