Maid of Arun : Girls Training Ship
Maid of Arun was the training ship of the Girls Naval Training Corps, a project masterminded by Cmdr Claude Woollard. It seems to have been a test bed for his ideas, for in 1956 he ordered a large yacht English Rose which was to be “the first and only cadet school ship in the world”. He was also the author of several books on sailing and naval exploits including The Last of the Cape Horniers.
Maid of Arun's fate is unknown, last heard of in 1961.
