Kelana : Broken up 2017
Kelana
was found in 2015 by Antony Gilbert & Tessa Sharland in an out of the way corner of Brighton Marina where she'd been pretty much abandoned for the last few years, slowly deteriorated through lack of use, as the above photograph shows. She was purchased by Tony & Tessa, who quickly began to despair at the state she was in. After investigating various options it was reluctantly decided Kelana was not a viable proposition and she has been broken up. Wrote Tony, “Kelana is, unfortunately, no more. Very upsetting. I'm not out of pocket, just disappointed not to have got to her ten years sooner”

Kelana advert

There is not much information in the HBA file on Kelana; I've got her dimensions from an advert offering her For Sale from the Winter 1996/1997 HBA Journal, Issue N° 44, and have a rather marvellous picture of her under sail, but I don't know the where or the when.
If any reader knows more about Kelana's history, please drop me  a line.
