Elona : High End McGruer For Sale
Roger Perrot, who owned Elona between 1987 and 2007 writes, “When I was an impoverished law clerk (I'm now an impoverished retired Advocate) I had a mind's eye image of the sort of boat I wanted - a wooden yawl. I was laughed at by my sailing chums, who seemed to know all about the pitfalls of owning anything with any maritime connection constructed in wood. One day on a whim I followed up an advertisement and found myself near Cowes looking at the exact factual representation of the image which I had had for years: that was Elona, and my introduction to McGruers. I couldn't not buy her”.
After twenty years of racing and cruising in Elona, mostly around the coasts of France and in the Channel Islands, Roger went on to own the larger McGruer designed boat, Rinamara.
