Constance : Launced in 2006 but Designed in 1899
Dick Wynne, proprietor of Lodestar Books commissioned Constance, launched in 2006, from wooden boatbuilder Fabian Bush. In September 2008 he and Mike Burn, the then owner of Sheila, sailed Constance from the Walton backwaters to Greenwich on the River Thames, there to winter the boat. The trip is interesting because Constance was designed for the short, steep seas of the Thames Estuary. Needless to say, she performed admirably, her slippery hull and ability to cut through the waves whilst maintaining hull speed being particularly liked. Dick also raced Constance in the OGA East Coast events in 2009 and 2010 but by 2011 work commitments caused him to decide to sell her.
For Sale, December 2017
I passed and photographed Constance in the Walton Backwaters in August 2016. Her owner, Nick Green, had kept the distinctive hull colour which made her at once recognisable. Now, a year later, Nick's put her up For Sale. Email me (Martin Hansen) if you would like contact details.
