Charlie Girl : Restoration In Panama
Charlie Girl has been restored at the Balboa Yacht Club at Amador in the Republic of Panama. She had sailed here from California but then fell into disrepair. Bought by Panama Yachting Services she has been their 'pet project' - worked on when the yard is otherwise quiet. Hull planking has been replaced, a new deck fitted, and a new dog house built. As the above photograph shows, the job is now done and a very smart yacht the result. Very little seems to be known about Charlie Girl's history other than that she was previously called Fernweh. Very tentatively, I wondered if she was originally the 22 tonner, Stelline, which is recorded as being 'Sold to the USA' in the 1968 Lloyd's Register.
